Born in Chicago, Carlos Johnson is an international recording and touring artist. He is a two time Grammy Nominee and winner of the Frydnak award from Poland for best music video. He has also won the 2009 Blues Blast Magazine award and in 2012 won two awards for best Blues Musician and Guitarist at the V Festival Scinawski Blus nad Odra, Czech Republic.
He has learnt the guitar in self-taught from the age of 11 years, and in 26 years of career, he toured round the world in the side of the biggest names of the blues.
In the 70s, he creates his first group ” Brownstone ”
But it is with the creation of “The Serious Blues Band” in 1985, that he begins to tour in all the United States, in Canada and in Europe.
Inspired by B.B. King, Otis Rush and Albert King, and having shared the stage with Buddy Guy, Robert Cray and John Hammond, he embodies the sound of West Side of Chicago.
Having played with Robert Gray, Buddy Guy, this left-handed guitar virtuoso records in 1984 : ” Of Where my Money ” with Billy Branch, and “Bad Axe” with Son Seal. He also backed up the singers Big Time Sarah, Zora Young, Koko Taylor…
His directory is vast of the classic jazz in the standards of the blues “as Leavin one tea next train”.
Sometimes he is allowed hang on his own virtuosity and flies away very high before returning to a more human expression of his guitar.
